STORIES

There’s something special about George. Maybe it’s the way the mountains roll into the ocean, or the fact that adventure always feels just around the corner. But long before craft beer and mountain bikes, this town ran on something else — rails.

Back in the day, George was a railway hub of the Southern Cape. Steam trains puffed

through the Outeniqua Mountains, carrying timber, goods, and stories from one side of

the country to the other. The old tracks still whisper that history — you can even walk or cycle along some of them today on the famous Outeniqua Trail. Nature, history, and adventure all meet right here.

And that’s what inspired our Amber Ale — a beer that bridges old and new. It’s rich in colour like the setting sun over the tracks, with bold caramel notes, fruity undertones, and a smooth, hoppy finish. It’s a brew that celebrates the hardworking spirit of George — the same gees that kept those locomotives running all those years ago.

So whether you’re hiking a trail, exploring the old railway museum, or just kicking back after a long day, the Amber Aleis your perfect companion — comforting, full-flavoured, and proudly local. Here’s to the rails that built our town, the trails that keep us exploring, and the ales that bring us together.

Amber Ale history in a glass, brewed in the heart of George.

HEUNINGBOS

This is a signature beer in our collection, a deep golden coloured blonde, infused with honeybush tea. Honey bush tea is a local endemic herb growing in this area in the mountains. Although tea and beer doesn’t sound right in the same sentence this is a match made in beer heaven. The subtle taste of honeybush tea round this beer off in a well balanced thirst-quencher and session beer.
